Ray Crockett was the epitome of stability and consistency throughout his stellar 14-year dominant career. He played in 214 games, was a 13-year starter and a team captain for the Detroit Lions, Denver Broncos and Kansas City Chiefs. His superior play helped the Detroit Lions earn its only playoff win and a trip to the NFC Championship game and helped the Denver Broncos win back-to-back Super Bowl Championships (XXXII, XXXIII).

Crockett was named to the 50th Anniversary Teams of the Detroit Lions, the Denver Broncos and was named one of the top 100 players in Denver Broncos history.

He was known for his aggressive, in your face “bump and run” style of defense amassing 900 tackles, 36 interceptions, 15 1/2 sacks, 15 forced fumbles, over 150 pass break ups and 5 touchdowns. He was a 2X Pro Bowl alternate and 2X All-Pro.

Crockett was one of the more versatile cornerbacks with a high football IQ. He played left and right Cornerback, Inside Nickel, Linebacker and Safety throughout his stellar career. He was drafted in the talented 1989 draft class, considered the best draft class in NFL history which included Hall of Famer’s Troy Aikman, Barry Sanders, Derek Thomas, Deion Sanders and Steve Atwater.

Crockett’s breakout year was 1991 when he led the NFC in interceptions, named a Pro Bowl alternate, All-Pro and won the Mackey Award for best NFC Defensive Back.

His best and most memorable years were 1997-1998 where he captained and led the Denver Broncos defense to capture two Super Bowl Championships. In Super Bowl XXXII, Crockett led the Broncos in tackles and pass defense as they upset Brett Favre and the game favorite Green Bay Packers. Crockett set and still holds the record for most interception yards in a single Denver Broncos game on September 20, 1998.

Crockett attended Baylor University from 1984-1988 where he was a 2X All-Southwest Performer. He helped Baylor win two bowl game victories, the 1985 Liberty Bowl and 1986 Bluebonnet Bowl, as well as played in the Hula and Blue Gray All Star games. In 2008, Crockett was inducted into the Baylor Athletic Hall of Fame.

Crockett played high school football and ran track for Duncanville High School in Duncanville, Texas. He was a 3X All-District, All Metro and All-State performer. He was All-Academic and holds the school record with 26 interceptions. In 2007, Crockett was inducted into the Duncanville Hall of Honor.

Off the field, Crockett is an entrepreneur, author of the book Bump and Run, a motivational speaker, television host, actor, and philanthropist. He’s involved in multiple community charities which focus on mentoring and empowering youth.

Crockett lives in Dallas, Texas and has four children – Joi, Rayven, Ray II and Darryl.
