About David

David W. Hult has served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Asbury Automotive Group since January of 2018 and is responsible for the company's overall business strategy and resources. He works closely with operations leadership in developing strategic policies and programs to drive retail innovation and enhance the guest experience at Asbury's 155 dealerships nationwide while fostering great partnerships with their OEM partners and shareholders. During David's time as CEO, Asbury has made historic acquisitions of groups like Larry H. Miller, Park Place, and Stevinson Automotive and has nearly doubled the company's size as part of the company's strategic 5-year plan for growth. In 2020, David also led the launch of Asbury's Clicklane online car-buying and digital retail platform. Before his current role, David served as Asbury's Chief Operating Officer.  

Prior to Asbury, David was the Chief Operating Officer at RML Automotive, the largest minority-owned automotive group in the nation. After serving our country in the U.S. Army, David started his career as a retail sales associate. He has held almost every position in a dealership and spent many years as a General Manager in several markets. David's last role at Group 1 Automotive was Vice President, where he was responsible for all of Fixed Operations and Marketing in the United States. Previously, he served as Group 1's Regional Vice President, running the entire east coast operations. He also worked for Penske Automotive as a General Manager of one of their largest stores in the United States.
